These are the last two of a collection we brought out some years ago in which our skilled artisans married different woods together that have natural color differences.  We did not dye any of the wood and this is not veneer.  The shapes are fully integrated so the sticks look the same on both faces.  These are robust despite being very light so they may be used as hair sticks in addition to being appropriate as shawl sticks.
