First published in 1979, Norah Gaughan has been a full time hand knit designer for over 35 years. She once made her living as a freelance designer selling to major yarn companies and knitting magazines, later adding swatch design for ready to wear and a freelance gig on seventh avenue to her resume. She has authored the book Knitting Nature as well as Comfort Knitted Afghans, Comfort Crocheted Afghans and Comfort Knitting and Crochet : Babies and Toddlers. Norah served as design director at JCA Reynolds, Artful Yarns, Adrienne Vittadini Hand Knitting Yarns, and more recently at Berroco, Inc. where she oversaw the large pattern collection and was the author of sixteen eponymous booklets. Now an independent designer collaborating with a variety of entities in the Hand knitting Industry, Including The Fibre Co, and Loop London, she is also a member of the Brooklyn Tweed design team. Norah's newest book is due out in the fall of 2017.
