This stud button was inspired by architectural and jewelry designs from north Africa, particularly Moroccan Amazigh brooches that incorporate hand motifs as a protective element to ward off negative forces or energies. We initially used this hand in our Hamsa Penannular Brooch. Now that we have created this stud button, it suddenly struck us that it looks like a woman's hand adorned with Henna designs for life transformation rituals like marriage, a reference we decided to celebrate in a new name that calls attention to this association while still retaining the meanings we originally sought to evoke: the hand symbolizes openness to the abundance of the universe, and signifies prayers answered. We think this is definitely an energy from which we can all benefit - prosperity, protection, abundance, goodness.
