Lava Flow is knit side to side in three sizes with asymmetical ridges that originate from the right and left sides alternation.  This alternatiing ridge pattern creates a flexible, bias effect that may be styled in different ways using Jul screw-in closures.  The rippling effect of alternating ridges evokes the ruffling and billowing of Pahoehoe lava, a geological term adopted from the Hawaiian.

This project takes 200-250 (350-400, 500-550) yards of worsted weight yarn worked on US8 needles
